The Palestinian sports delegation is preparing to participate in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, which will be hosted by Japan from September 19 to October 4, in one of the continent’s largest sporting events, with delegations representing 45 Asian countries and regions.

Palestine will participate in the 20th edition of the Asian Games with a delegation of 108 members, including 67 male and female athletes, who will compete in 19 sports, including seven combat sports, in addition to one team sport. This participation reflects the diversity of Palestinian sports and the growing depth of its national teams.

The sports include taekwondo, athletics, wrestling, karate, mixed martial arts, judo, triathlon, jiu-jitsu, sailing and rowing, swimming, modern pentathlon, equestrian, shooting, archery, boxing, esports, weightlifting, baseball, and golf.

The Palestinian participation holds particular significance for the athletes and national sports federations, as the competitors aspire to deliver their best performances, achieve positive results, and reach the podium, further strengthening the presence of Palestinian sport and supporting the athletes’ path toward upcoming Olympic and international competitions.

In addition, the event represents an important opportunity for Palestinian athletes to compete against some of the continent’s finest competitors, helping them develop their skills and raise their technical level through this valuable experience.

The Palestine Olympic Committee is committed to ensuring Palestine’s continued presence at the Asian Games, dating back to its participation in the 1998 edition, the 13th edition of the Games, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, and continuing through the subsequent editions despite the circumstances and challenges faced by Palestinian athletes.

The Palestinian delegation includes a selection of national team athletes from across Palestine and the diaspora, reaffirming the unity of the Palestinian people and its sporting community, which serves as a platform for addressing the world, conveying the message and justness of the Palestinian cause, and reaffirming that the Palestinian sporting family is an integral part of the Asian and international sporting communities.

It is worth noting that Japan is hosting the Asian Games for the third time in its history, following Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994. The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games are being held under the slogan “Imagine One Asia” and will feature competitions in more than 40 sports.
